Sue Yoon
Oil painting
Sue Yoon is a Brisbane-based oil painter drawing on her Korean heritage and life in Australia. Flowers, peaceful landscapes and traditional hanok are reimagined through memory, light and colour.
Sue Yoon is a Brisbane-based oil painter who studied Textile Art at Hongik University in Seoul. After working in fashion and interior design and teaching art for many years, she returned to her own creative practice.
Inspired by flowers, peaceful landscapes and traditional Korean hanok, Sue draws on both her Korean heritage and her life in Australia. Layers of oil paint, rich textures and harmonious colour capture the atmosphere and emotion of places she encounters.
Rather than reproduce a scene, Sue reimagines landscapes through memory, shifting light, colour and feeling. Her paintings celebrate quiet moments and invite viewers to pause, reconnect with nature and find beauty in the familiar.
