Kelly Bonk

Ceramics

Kelly Bonk is a Brisbane-based ceramic artist creating bold, sculptural pieces that blur the line between everyday object and artwork. Through hand-built forms, vibrant colour and intricate blooms, her work brings a playful sense of the fantastical into considered spaces.

Kelly Bonk is a Brisbane-based contemporary ceramic artist whose work explores the space between sculpture and function. Working predominantly by hand, she creates richly coloured pieces that transform familiar forms into bold, tactile objects designed to be lived with as much as admired.

Bonk discovered her love of ceramics while living as an expat in Singapore in 2016 and 2017. After returning home, she left her career as a primary school teacher to pursue ceramics alongside becoming a mum—a new chapter that gave her the space to develop her own artistic voice.

Drawing inspiration from wild gardens, botanical collections and the imperfect beauty of the natural world, Bonk layers blooms, organic forms and vibrant glazes to create work that feels both playful and enduring. Each piece celebrates the texture, movement and subtle irregularities of the handmade.

Her practice is driven by a desire to elevate everyday objects into collectable works of art. From sculptural wall pieces to vessels and functional ceramics, Bonk blurs the boundary between utility and ornament, inviting people to bring art into their daily rituals.

Bold yet considered, expressive yet refined, her work brings colour and curiosity into the home while celebrating our connection to the natural world.
